With assistance from Yamaha Distributors South Africa, current National Off Road and National Enduro Champion, Jade Gutzeit, together with current National Enduro E2 Champion Marc Torlage, will take on the world’s best enduro riders at the fourth round of the FIM Enduro World Championship to be held in Turkey on the 10th and 11th of June 2011.
Both Gutzeit and Torlage will be riding Yamaha YZ 250 two stoke machines, prepared in South Africa and shipped across to Turkey especially for the event. Gutzeit will campaign in the E2 class for 250cc two stokes and 400cc four stokes on bike number 40 (with red back round), whilst Torlage will compete in the Junior class, for riders under the age of twenty three, also on bike number 40 but with a green back round.
As South Africa’s top two enduro riders in their respective classes, coupled with Gutzeit’s tremendous international race successes at the Erzberg Rodeo, Red Bull Romaniacs and the Roof of Africa last year, it is going to be very interesting to see how the two fair against the worlds best enduro riders.
Both will have to adapt very quickly to the completely different racing format that governs the Enduro World Championship, but their experience of racing some the most extreme enduro terrain available in the world right here in Southern Africa should stand them in very good stead.
